The GS8 U13s Cup – A Fantastic Day of Community Rugby

What a way to bring the Try Break Tours experience to life.

The GS8 U13s Cup at Epping Upper Clapton RFC brought together 16 teams, more than 340 young players and over 1,000 players, coaches, families and supporters for a fantastic day of community rugby.

From the first arrivals to the final whistle, the atmosphere around the club was exactly what we wanted the event to be about: great rugby, brilliant support and a genuine festival feel for the whole family.

More Than Just the Rugby

The rugby was at the heart of the day, with 16 teams taking to the pitches and providing competitive, enjoyable matches throughout the afternoon.

But for Try Break Tours, creating a memorable rugby event is about much more than what happens between the touchlines.

Music from the DJ, event announcements, food, refreshments, branded event areas and hundreds of families supporting from the sidelines helped create an atmosphere that felt like a real occasion.

With over 1,000 people attending throughout the day, Epping Upper Clapton RFC was buzzing.

It provided a glimpse of exactly what we want clubs and families to experience at a Try Break Tours event.

16 Teams. 340+ Players. One Brilliant Day.

More than 340 U13 players represented their clubs across the competition, with teams competing throughout the day before the tournament culminated in a fantastic final.

At the end of a brilliant day of rugby, Canterbury RFC were crowned GS8 U13s Cup champions, securing the festival title and a fantastic prize for the squad — tickets to the 2027 Premiership Rugby Final at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham.

While there could only be one overall winner, the success of the day was about far more than the final result.

Seeing hundreds of young players enjoying rugby alongside their teammates, and more than 1,000 people creating such a positive atmosphere around them, was exactly what community rugby events should be about.

Bringing the Try Break Tours Experience to Life

The GS8 U13s Cup was also an opportunity for us to demonstrate what Try Break Tours is all about.

Our aim is to take the things that make community rugby special — teammates, families, friendships, competition and shared experiences — and build memorable rugby events around them.

That means well-organised rugby, but it also means creating an environment where players, coaches, parents, siblings and supporters all feel part of the occasion.

The GS8 Cup showed just how powerful that combination can be.

And, most importantly, a fantastic day for community rugby.

Next Stop: The U15s Cup – 25th October

The GS8 U13s Cup might be finished, but we're only getting started.

Next up is our U15s competition on Sunday 25th October, when another group of community rugby clubs will come together for the next Try Break Tours event.

After the atmosphere and support we saw at the U13s Cup, we can't wait to do it all again.

And beyond the cup competitions, our attention is also firmly on Try Break Tours 2027.
